Comments on the figures for the first quarter of 2023


NorCom Information Technology GmbH & Co. KGaA achieved total revenues of EUR 2.9 million in the first quarter of 2023 (Q1 2022: EUR 3.0 million). The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was positive at EUR 0.1 million (Q1 2022: EUR 0.1 million).


NorCom continued its business at the previous year's level in the first quarter. The order situation of existing customers is stable. Larger projects in the industrial sector were implemented with Daimler and Stihl. In the public sector, the lion's share of sales comes from the federal agency. This has extended one of the existing framework agreements ("IT service production") by one year until the end of 2023. The new tender for the affiliation contract is currently in progress. Another framework agreement runs until the end of 2024. Other public customers include the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, the Federal Audit Office and BWI GmbH.


Thanks to intensive recruiting, NorCom was able to hire five new employees in 2023. The shortage of skilled workers continues to be an obstacle to NorCom's growth - but the intensification of recruiting in recent months is increasingly paying off. By strengthening the internal team, NorCom will in future be able to realize the sales potential of existing framework agreements to a greater extent, achieve better margins and become less dependent on external employees.



DaSense Community Open Source and innovative apps

The focus in the first quarter was on establishing and expanding the cooperation with Fujitsu. NorCom and Fujitsu enter into a partnership to implement DaSense Community Open Source (DaSense COS). With DaSense COS, authorities receive the artificial intelligence (AI) platform DaSense free of charge. Sales will be made by Fujitsu. Together, the companies are responsible for the coordination of the project, as well as further developments, maintenance, service and support.


In addition, several new AI standard applications for DaSense were developed in the first quarter so that users can derive immediate benefits from the software even faster.

Specialist users can easily create so-called AI apps themselves and thus integrate company-specific know-how. DaSense AI standard applications and individual AI apps can be quickly combined into intelligent processes in the DaSense AI ecosystem.

Some of the new AI apps integrate the intelligent language model ChatGPT and make results available to intelligent processes throughout the AI ecosystem.
